Common questions.
Quick answers. If yours isn't here, send us a note above.
How much does it cost?
$2 per server per month. Drops to $1.50 at 100+ servers. 10-server minimum. Enterprise (air-gap, compliance) is custom. Every plan includes a 14-day free trial. See the pricing page.
Does the agent need root?
Yes, for full hardware identification. It reads /proc, /sys, and runs smartctl and dmidecode. The agent source is on GitHub, so you can verify exactly what it reads before running it.
Is the source available?
The agent is open source — you can audit exactly what runs on your servers. The platform is commercial and source is not public. Customers get the platform binary after starting a trial or signing up.
Does anything phone home?
No. Agents only talk to the platform address you configured at install. No analytics, no error reporting, no third-party telemetry.
Is there a hosted version?
Not currently. RackWatch is designed to run on your own hardware so fleet data stays on your network. A managed option may come later for teams that want it.
Does it work in air-gapped networks?
Yes, on the Enterprise tier. No outbound internet required once the binaries are on the network. Patch-info databases can be mirrored offline.
Which operating systems does the agent support?
Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux, and Windows Server 2019 and 2022. Any distribution with systemd and a recent .NET runtime will work.
